Here are some of the groups and churches that have received ASK JEF 2 funding. Where money has been allocated all decisions were made by a panel. Finally, the applications were felt to be fulfilling the requirements of the scheme and considered to be within the spirit of what Ask Jef 2 funding is aiming to support and sustain.
Many churches are exploring new, creative and sustainable ways of gathering young people. Wingate Grange received £250 of a £490 bid, to aid the roll out of Messy Church. St. Barnabas in Bounmoor received £200 of a £450 for resources to run a holiday club that fed into the ongoing vision and sustainable work of the church. St Anne’s in Auckland deanery received £500 to buy new resources and equipment as they develop their community, school parish links. All Saints (Hillside) in Lobley Hill received £500 to stimulate and sustain their puppet ministry; as it continues to grow as a form of outreach and gathering for young people, whilst also contributing to services and other areas of evangelism.
Rock Youth Church based at St. Cuthbert’s East Rainton applied for and received the full request of £420 towards their sound system, as did the youth band at St. John’s Hebburn (£500). St Nicholas’ of Durham received £200 from a £450 bid towards a sound system which will be used for outreach as well as developing and encouraging those young people within their groups musically.
St. Mary’s Barnard Castle received £200 of a £300 bid to enable them to buy hoodies as they seek to grow and encourage those involved in Junior Choir. Ask Jef 2 has supported church and school programmes, to help pay for gatherings where the relationships developed with young people through outreach could be consolidated and supported. 6:47 at St. Ninians received £475, St Alban’s, Windy Nook £490, Staindrop Christian Union £120 of a £250 bid. St. Lukes, Ferryhill has enabled groups and individuals to be subsidised when running a weekend / day away with those new or young in their Christian faith. Stranton Church were awarded £300 of a £350 bid to help develop and sustain their work and group transitions by contributing towards running general resources, Youth Alpha and eating together. The programme being predominately led by their older peers.
